In 9th grade, youth are invited to begin confirmation—a time in which they are immersed in the church in order to discern their place within the community of faith, and to affirm the vows taken by their parents on their behalf at their baptism. The program involves 50 hours of church service. Confirmands keep a journal throughout the program for reflection on their experiences and the relationship of these to a life of Christian discipleship. A team of mentors lead classes and act as spiritual guides throughout the process. Once confirmed, youth are considered full-adult members of the church.
