Ash Wednesday Pancake Dinner & Worship Service |
|
We hope you will join us on Ash Wednesday, Feb. 22, as we gather together at the onset of Lent. Beginning at 5:30 p.m., all are invited to a free Pancake Dinner, graciously hosted by Trinity's Chidlren, Youth, & Family Ministries Commission.
Following our meal together, all are invited to gather in the sanctuary for a special 7:00 p.m. Ash Wednesday worship service. The service will focus upon the Lenten invitation to examine ourselves with honesty and humility, comparing the lives we have been leading to the lives God calls and equips us to lead. As such, Ash Wed. truly serves as the beginning of Lent's 40 days of prayerful self-reflection and pentitence. The service will include the option for receiving the imposition of ashes, an ancient sign of human mortality and penitence, and all will be welcome to celebrate the communino of our Lord's Last Supper together, in reflectino of God's overwhelming grace, even amid our sin.
Childcare will be provided throughout the evening for families desiring it, although children are always warmly welcome in all of Trinity's life, including worship. We sincerely hope you'll join us. |

The Challenge: Read the Bible in a Year
Why? Because there is no greater means of uncovering the truth of God's love for us than by exploring God's word to us in Scripture. However, many folks don't engage in Scripture reading as a regular spiritual discipline. Some fear they don't know how to read the Bible, while others fear it's too challenging or inapplicable to read regularly. Join the challenge, however, and discover that reading Bible is easily approachable and still incredibly apprlicable!
How? Trinity's Adult Christian Education Commissino has worked hard to create a 52-week program designed to make reading the Bible in a year approachable, achievable, and enjoyable! The program centers around 52 weekly reading assignments, that each contains an Old Testament reading, a New Testament reading, and a Psalter reading. The readings are designed to build upon themselves, so that what you read in following weeks will be informed by your readings in prvious weeks. To further assist you with this challenge, the program suggests some specific resources, including the use of a Study Bible.
But perhaps the prgram's best (and free!) resource is the creation of "video blogs" that are available here on Trinity's website. Specifically, in the right-hand column of the "Home" page you'll see an icon, "The Bible in a Year," which will lead you to a series of video blogs, authored by Pastor Rob, that introduce the books of the Bible, as well as each and every reading assignment within the challenge. Thus, everything you read will have an introduction available to you.
When? The challenge is designed to begin the first Sunday of Lent. However, as this challenge will be web-based, it can be begun, paused, etc. according to your own scheduling needs.
So why not jump in and give yourself a gift beyond description, and read the Bible in a year?! |

Lenten Small Group - God's Abundant Table |
|
Interested in joining with others on a Lenten journey focused on exploring the relationship between the Lord's Supper and our every day lives? We invite you to participate in Trinity's 2012 Lenten Small Groups, which will spend the 6 weeks of Lent exploring Cynthia Campbell's book, "God's Abundant Table."
Through this exploarion, participants will uncover that, far more than a mere re-eneactment of Jesus' last meal with his disciples, the Lord's Supper is intimately connected to Jesus' entire ministry, to the entire story of God's relationship with God's people, and to our everyday meals and to the ministry to which each of us is called as Christ's followers. As such, the Lord's Supper has lots to show us about our own relationship with God, and how God would have us live every day.
To sign-up for a small group, please simply contact Barbara DeCarlo, Trinity's Discipline Ministries Coordinator, at the church office or via e-mail. Small Goups are offered Wednesday mornings, and Sunday evenings. Childcare is provided on Sunday evenings for families desiring it. |
