Confirmation

In 9th grade, youth are invited to begin confirmation—a time in which the youth is immersed in the church in order to discern his/her place within the community of faith, and to affirm the vows taken at his/her baptism. The program involves 100 hours of church service, including: 50 hours towards a Mission Project, 30 hours of Interchurch Service, and 20 of Worship Attendance. Each confirmand keeps a journal throughout the program to allow him/her to reflect on his/her experience and its relationship to a life of Christian discipleship. The confirmand also has a mentor who acts as a spiritual guide throughout the process. Once confirmed, the adolescent is considered a full-adult member of the church.
