Ed Kern Memorial Scholarship Fund

The Christian Education Commission of Trinity Presbyterian Church congratulates you on your continuing post high school education.  We know that many of you have worked long and hard at your studies and have also given of yourself to Trinity over the years.  We are so grateful to have you as a member of our extended family and welcome you back to Trinity whenever you are home!

The Christian Education Commission and Session are pleased to invite you to apply for the second annual Ed Kern Memorial Scholarship Fund award to be given out this summer.  This Fund was established through a gift from Mr. Edward Kern to Trinity Presbyterian Church, his desire being that it be used to help with educational needs.

Scholarship applications are open to graduating high school seniors and to those already in post-secondary programs (vocational school, college, graduate school).  The scholarship will be awarded in a lump sum of $1000.00 to one person each year.  You may only receive the award once, but may apply more than once if you are not a past recipient.

CLICK HERE for the application for the award along with the requirement for an essay to accompany the application.  All essays will be assigned a number for identification purposes and will be read anonymously by four church members and ranked using a rubric.  In the case of a tie, a fifth reader will be called in.

Please read the instructions on the application carefully and be sure to mail it back, along with the essay, to Helen Wise, DCE at Trinity by the “postmarked by” date of June 30.  No late applications will be accepted.  We hope that you will apply for this scholarship and that the writing of the essay brings you joy as you reflect on your years among our congregation, worshiping and serving God.
